How to get there:

Byron Bay is located in the Northern Rivers region in NSW, just off the Pacific Highway, 800kms north of Sydney, 170kms south of Brisbane (about 90kms south of the Gold Coast). There are two airports in the vicinity with a bus depot located right in the centre of town.

Driving To Byron Bay

Much work has been done to the Pacific Highway making for a more enjoyable drive. With breaks, Byron Bay is about a 9 hour drive from Sydney and about 2 hour drive from Brisbane.

Domestic:
Flights arrive daily to Ballina, Lismore and the Gold Coast airports. Shuttle buses go from all airports to Byron Bay town centre just opposite the Community Centre and surrounds.

Gold Coast Airport (which is located to the north) it takes about 45 minutes to get to Byron Bay.
Brisbane International & Domestic (north) takes approx 1 3/4 hours to Byron.
BallinaByron Gateway Airport (south) is about a twenty minute drive along the high way to Byron Bay.

Byron Bay Information:

Cape Byron is Australia’s most easterly point, 153° 39´ east, located on the north coast of New South Wales (see map of Australia below). With its numerous beaches, unspoilt hinterland, and relaxed lifestyle, Byron Bay is a popular tourist destination.

With average summer temperatures of 21C – 28C, and average winter temperatures of 15C – 21C, both locals and visitors are able to enjoy plenty of outdoor activities including the many festivals throughout the year.
